Warren Thompson is a pedantic driving instructor who suddenly finds himself in his mid-fifties with a job he doesn’t enjoy and a family he never asked for. Warren just wants an easy life. He’s happy with a clean house, a neat garden, and a nice cup of tea. But thanks to his naturally difficult personality, Warren is constantly finding himself in sticky situations.

Episode 1- The Pond Lining

Warren, always keen to outdo his annoying neighbor Ian who’s got a brand new pond lining, sets about firstly dumping some old asbestos roofing and then getting the latest pond liner. He thinks by getting Charlie a job in the local garden centre he’ll get a discount on one. When this doesn’t go to plan, he takes matters into his own hands and attempts to steal Ian’s pond liner to drastic results.

Episode 2- The Rival

Warren’s business is not going well. He’s losing pupils to a rival driving school, Daz’s Drivers, and his online rating is through the floor. He sets out to turn the tide by canvassing for more pupils in the local area, but after he discovers a dead cat in the road, he gets accused of running it over, publicly shamed for being a cat killer, and finally ends up as front page news.

Episode 3- The Unwanted House Guest

Warren reluctantly agrees to take his annoying brother in law Colin out for a drink. It turns out Colin has fallen for an online scam and given away all the money he and Liz had put aside for a cruise. Warren’s advice on how to handle this backfires and Liz kicks Colin out – so now Colin is Warren and Anne’s problem. Warren can’t wait to get rid of Colin until he learns he's good at DIY projects

However, when he takes Danny to the supermarket where Jenny works, it turns out she is gorgeous. Warren rushes Danny out of the supermarket and tells him Jenny is way out of his league. He doesn’t want Danny to humiliate himself.

Episode 6- The Funeral

Anne's Auntie Faye has died, so the family are all off for her funeral all in one car - Warren driving, with Anne, Colin, Liz, Nanny and Grandad and Charlie and Danny. Warren's blood pressure starts to rise with the constant babble from the in-laws and Grandad asking to stop for a wee. Things go from bad to worse when another driver tail gates him at high speed, and the car starts to smoke.
