Young Mormons are pursuing their educations and careers "not with the purpose of delaying marriage, but with the idea that we want to have a full life that includes all of those things," says Beverli Jo DeWalt.

We visit a Virginia mosque that feeds Muslims and non-Muslims alike at its daily iftar meal to break the Ramadan fast.

"He is the maintainer, the preserver, the one who saves the earth over and over again," says Joan Cummins, curator of the Brooklyn Museum's exhibition "Vishnu: Hinduism's Blue-Skinned Savior."

"Only with people, with community" will the Holy Land remain holy, say Latin Patriarch Fouad Twal, the region's Roman Catholic leader. But the number of Christians in Israel and the West Bank is declining at an alarming rate.

Ireland is overwhelmingly Catholic, at least in name. But even before the scandals, the devotion of the Irish people to their church had been declining. And yet a profound sense of faith still burns in many quarters of that country. It is nowhere more evident than in the life and religious practice of the women at St. Mary's Abbey, in County Waterford.

At a meeting in London's historic Lambeth Palace, top Anglican and Roman Catholic leaders launched a new effort to support Christians in the Holy Land. "Have these people a future in their ancestral home? We hope and pray that they do," says Anglican Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams.

It was a huge surprise when the legislature of one of the most conservative states passed one of the more liberal immigration laws in the country. But the bigger surprise was how it angered so many members of Utah's predominate faith, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, otherwise known as the Mormons, even though it was the church that pushed through the legislation.

It is a painful rite of passage for girls in many African and Middle Eastern countries, but in Senegal there has been a remarkably successful effort to eliminate the practice of female circumcision.

Church attendance in Ireland has been dropping precipitously, and the number of priests being ordained from the country's only Catholic seminary is at an all time low. "The young people, the under 40's, have largely deserted the church in Ireland now," says Rev. Tony Flannery of the Association of Catholic Priests.

As the debate over the federal budget continues in Washington, religious leaders like Rev. Jim Wallis are urging members of both parties to protect the poor. "A budget is a moral document," he says. "And the common good has to outweigh ideological, political battles in this town."
