After becoming Lord Yuzhang, Xiao Qi returned to the capital city with some of his armies. Wang Lin asked to meet him in secret.

Noble Consort Xie and Wang Xuan’s mother, known as the Eldest Princess Jinmin, met and conferred about the marriage between Zitan and Wang Xuan. The Emperor acceded to their request. This worried the Crown Prince greatly, because he was always nutsy about Wang Xuan.

At the welcome banquet for Xiao Qi where he was honored as Lord Yuzhang, Crown Prince Zilong left the hall secretly and got to Huaguang Hall. Wang Xuan entered Huaguang Hall in search of the Empress. Unexpectedly, she caught Crown Prince Zilong having intimate relations with Xie Wanru.

Xiao Qi got his armies in good order and set out for the parade and for saving Wang Xuan. Helan Zhen took Wang Xuan to the parade ground and watched secretly in the shadows. Xiao Qi reviewed the soldiers with Xu Shou and noticed that Xu Shou was going to hurt him with unkind thoughts.

Led by Song Huai'en, the secret guards of the Wang Family and Song's soldiers come to rescue Wang Xuan.
Episode 17

Episode 21
The Empress visits Wen Zongshen at the prison, and recalls the past when they were childhood sweethearts. She wants Wen Zongshen to work for her, but Wen Zongshen refuses.
Episode 22
Wang Xu reports the outcome of his investigation to his elder brother Wang Lin: Wen Zongshen was indeed in collusion with Xie Yuan.
