Filmmaker Deann Borshay Liem talks about the making of "In the Matter of Cha Jung Hee," walking in somebody else's shoes and more.

Her passport said she was Cha Jung Hee. She knew she was not. So began a 40-year deception for a Korean adoptee who came to the United States in 1966. Told to keep her true identity secret from her new American family, the 8-year-old girl quickly forgot she had ever been anyone else. But why had her identity been switched? And who was the real Cha Jung Hee?

In this clip from "Off and Running," Avery writes a letter to her birth mother hoping to receive on in return. She fears she will not, and her parents and siblings help her feel reassured about her decision.

Avery invites her new friends over for dinner, and they help her learn more about the black community where she lives. She begins to see a rift growing in her personal life with her family and with her friends.

Avery meets up for lunch with some old school friends and talks about life at her new high school. She talks about what it was like to be the only black child in her class when she was younger.

In this clip from "Off and Running," Avery leaves home after her search for her birth family puts a strain on her relationship with her parents. Both Avery and her parents have a hard time dealing with the situation and their lack of contact.

Filmmaker Nicole Opper and producer Sharese Bullock talk about "Off and Running," a coming-of-age tale about Avery Klein-Cloud, a teenage adoptee with who lives in Brooklyn with two Jewish moms and two adopted brothers. The film follows her search for her birth family and her identity.

"Off and Running" tells the story of Brooklyn teen Avery, a track star with a bright future. She is the adopted African-American child of white Jewish lesbians. Her older brother is black and Puerto Rican and her younger brother is Korean. Though it may not look typical, Avery's household is like most American homes - until Avery writes to her birth mother and the response throws her into crisis.

The Sadowskys see a counselor who specializes in families who have adopted transracially. They tell the counselor of some of the tough questions that Faith has been shooting at them, but in the end Faith says that she feels more American now than Chinese.

After spending two weeks in America, Faith begins acting out and becomes frustrated with adjusting to a new life in a new country. She says many times that she does like life in America and wants to go back to China.

In this clip from "Wo Ai Ni Mommy," Fang Sui Yong meets her adoptive mother for the first time. At first, she is hesitant and shy but quickly warms up to her new mother.

Faith begins to learn English with her adoptive mother before she leave for the U.S. As with learning anything, at times she can be very excited about doing well at learning this new language, but can also get easily frustrated by it.

Filmmaker Stephanie Wang-Breal talks about the making of "Wo Ai Ni (I Love You) Mommy." The film tells the story of Fang Sui Yong, an 8-year-old orphan, and the Sadowskys, the Long Island Jewish family that travels to China to adopt her. Stephanie explains why she acted as a translator between the young girl and the Sadowskys and talks about how quickly Fang Sui Yong turned into Faith Sadowsky.
