The musicians of Memphis Soul talk about what it is like performing at the White House
(Premiering on PBS April 16, 2013). Musicians who are included 'IN PERFORMANCE AT THE WHITE HOUSE: Memphis Soul," including Sam Moore, Booker T. Jones, Ben Harper and Mavis Staples, talk about what "Memphis soul" means to them.
"In Performance at the White House: Memphis Soul" premieres on PBS April 16 and will honor the memorable soul sounds from the mid- to late-1960s that came from Memphis, Tennessee and legendary labels like Stax-Volt Records, that featured artists such as Al Green, Mavis Staples, Ben Harper, Alabama Shakes and many more.
A star-studded tribute to the songwriting team who penned such classic tunes as "What The World Needs Now is Love," "Walk on By" and "Alfie." Composer Bacharach and lyricist David's extraordinary collaboration has produced numerous hits and enjoyed a resurgence in popularity, with songs featured in the "Austin Powers" films and an episode of "Glee."

The Motown Sound: In Performance at the White House premieres Tuesday, March 1 at 8 p.m. ET on PBS stations nationwide.
