Tony Award-winning director Bartlett Sher’s acclaimed new Met Opera production is led by conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin with Aleksandrs Antonenko in his first Met performance as Otello, the tormented Moor of Venice, with Sonya Yoncheva in her role debut as his innocent wife, Desdemona. Soprano Anna Netrebko appears in her highly anticipated Met role debut as Leonora, the tortured heroine who sacrifices her own life for the love of the Gypsy troubadour in Verdi's opera, Il Trovatore. Netrebko sings Leonora's aria from Act IV --- "D'amor sull'ali rosee" --- at the final dress rehearsal for the Met Opera's Il Trovatore.

Tenor Andrea Bocelli performs the tango song “Por Una Cabeza” from Scent of a Woman (1992). The song, comparing an addiction to horse racing with an attraction to women, was written in 1935 by two men central to tango in Argentina: singer and composer Carlos Gardel and lyricist Alfredo Le Pera. Sharing the stage with Bocelli are tango dancers Paul Karmiryan and Tiffany Maher.

Tenor Andrea Bocelli plays piano and sings “Mi Mancherai” (I'll Miss You) from the film Il Postino (1994). The song's music composer Luis Bacalov won the Best Score Award from Italy’s Nastro d’Argento, the equivalent of the Oscars in that country. The film was directed by Michael Radford and starred Massimo Troisi (1953 – 1994) as the simple mail man who discovers poetry.

Tenor Andrea Bocelli and singer Nicole Scherzinger sing a Spanish-language version of "Don't Cry for Me Argentina," a song originally written for the musical Evita by the team of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. The film version based on the musical opened on December 25, 1996, and starred Madonna as Evita Perón. Scherzinger began her career with the Pussycat Dolls and starred in Cats in London.

Andrea Bocelli performs "Sorridi Amore Vai" from the film Life is Beautiful (1997), accompanied by The Adderley School for the Performing Arts Children’s Choir. The film was directed by and starred Roberto Benigni and won Academy Awards for Best Music, Original Dramatic Score, and Best Foreign Language Film, and Best Actor for Benigni's role.

The star tenor Andrea Bocelli sings "Maria" from the hit Broadway musical and film, West Side Story. Leonard Bernstein composed the music and lyrics are by Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim.

In the original Broadway cast of Chicago the Musical, Chita Rivera played Velma Kelly and Gwen Verdon played Roxie Hart. Both were nominated for a Tony Award. "Nowadays," a Roxie Hart song, is also part of a duet between Roxie and Velma. The two Broadway stars were great friends and in Rivera's concert at Jazz at Lincoln Center, she sings the song in tribute to the late Gwen Verdon.

In Chita Rivera: A Lot of Livin' to Do, the Broadway legend recalls performing with Maurice Chevalier on his television special in May 1956. Archival footage shows a young Rivera flirting and dancing with the older French entertainer, playing for laughs. At the time Rivera had already been in original Broadway casts, but her star-making turn in West Side Story was soon to come in 1957.

At Jazz at Lincoln Center, Chita Rivera sings "Carousel" from Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris, the musical revue she toured with in 1970. Singer-songwriter Brel had a 1950s hit with "La Valse à Mille Temps", set to a waltz time. New English-language lyrics were written for the song --- renamed "Carousel" for the American revue --- by Eric Blau and Mort Shuman. A web extra.

Chita Rivera's fiery performance of the role Anita in the original Broadway cast of West Side Story made her a star. Rivera says a highlight of the experience was watching Leonard Bernstein and Jerome Robbins create the musical.
