Brangien Davis joins artist Todd Horton in Edison, Washington, as he shares his innovative “Topographia Index.” Fusing analog wire and wood implements with charcoal and graphite, Horton “collaborates” with trees to create dynamic artworks driven by wind and weather. Using a floating device placed in the Samish River and writing tools hung high in the forest, Horton produces unique and organic art.

Brangien Davis travels to Anacortes, Washington, to connect with innovative quilt artist Julie Sevilla Drake. Drake brings a specialized approach to the artistic tradition, dyeing her own fabrics and using a machine to add rich textures. Using advanced color theory, intuitive stitching techniques and abstract exploration, Drake shares her artistic process and the beauty woven into each piece.

The artist details his creative process, revealing the traditional Japanese aesthetics and Northwest influences that shape his work.
